Cloud certifications are now among the highest-ROI credentials in IT. AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud certifications directly correlate with higher compensation, faster hiring, and access to cloud engineering roles that are the fastest-growing segment of the IT job market. Choosing the right cloud certification path depends on which cloud platform your employer or target employers use.

Picking any one major cloud platform and getting deep earns more than being surface-level certified on all three. Go deep first, then broad.

Choosing Your Cloud Platform

CloudBest Situations to Target It
AWS (Amazon Web Services)Largest market share worldwide. Best for general cloud engineering roles, startups, and AWS-heavy enterprises.
Microsoft AzureDominant in enterprise and government. Best for organizations heavily invested in Microsoft (Active Directory, Office 365, Windows Server).
Google Cloud (GCP)Smaller market share, but premium for data/ML-heavy workloads and Google-adjacent companies.

Most enterprise IT environments use one primary cloud (usually AWS or Azure) with some mix. Pick the one your employer or target employer uses.
