Start with the skill or exam objective you need. Then compare training sources. Catalogs, prices, free access, and exam versions change. Check the provider’s page before paying or creating a cloud account.

Official exam objectives set the coverage target for a certification. A third-party course supplies one teaching path. Compare its table of contents against the current objective PDF. Missing objectives need another source or your own practice.
Evaluate a Paid Course
Before buying a subscription or individual course, record the current price, billing interval, renewal terms, refund policy, supported exam version, lab access, and accessibility needs. Compare two providers using the same criteria. Do not infer quality from a sale price or a platform ranking.
Cloud labs might create billable resources in your own account. Set a budget alert, identify the resource cleanup steps, and check charges after the exercise. A free lesson does not imply free infrastructure. Microsoft Learn’s earlier general Azure sandbox is no longer available for many labs, so read each module’s current requirements.
Turn Study into Evidence
Use a simple loop for each topic:
- Read an objective and a lesson.
- Practice one safe task in a local lab or the provider’s authorized environment.
- Record the starting state, action, result, and cleanup.
- Answer an objective question without notes. Revisit the topic when your answer is incomplete.
For example, after studying DNS, configure a resolver in a disposable VM, query a test domain, record the output, restore the original configuration, and explain the difference between name resolution and reachability. The record gives you evidence to discuss in an interview.
Study Plan Exercise
Choose one role and collect five postings in your location. Identify three repeated skills. Map each skill to one current learning source and one practice task. Estimate the total cost from the providers’ current terms. Set a review date because exam and service catalogs change.
