Entropy Analyzer - SimeonOnSecurity
NOTE: This tool runs entirely in your browser with client-side JavaScript. The data you paste is measured locally and is never transmitted, logged, or stored. That matters here, because suspected malware samples and customer data are exactly what gets pasted into an entropy checker.

Most Frequent Bytes

Reading the Number
- 0 to 3 bits per byte. Repetitive data, such as a run of one character or a fixed padding byte.
- 3 to 5 bits per byte. Ordinary English prose sits here, usually around 4.0 to 4.5.
- 5 to 7 bits per byte. Structured or encoded data. Base64 lands near 6, and compiled binaries often sit in this band.
- Above 7.5 bits per byte. Almost certainly compressed or encrypted, because both exist to remove predictable pattern.
- High entropy is not proof. A compressed document, an encrypted archive and a packed malware sample all look the same. Entropy tells you what to investigate, not what you found.
