Linux+ XK0-006 Preparation Path

Table of Contents
CompTIA Linux+ v8 uses XK0-006. This page previously described retired XK0-005 objectives. The current exam has five domains. Use the Linux+ course and official XK0-006 objectives to build a study checklist.

Follow the Five Domains
| Domain | Weight | Starting lesson |
|---|---|---|
| System Management | 23% | Files, storage, network, and boot |
| Services and User Management | 20% | Accounts, processes, services, and containers |
| Security | 18% | Permissions, authentication, and hardening |
| Automation, Orchestration, and Scripting | 17% | Scripts and repeatable changes |
| Troubleshooting | 22% | Diagnosis and verification |
Start with a disposable VM and snapshot. Record the distribution, kernel, user identity, and network state. Use a non-root account with approved sudo access. Do not experiment with storage, firewall, or account lockout on a production system.
Show the Work
For each domain, complete one task with a starting state, command, observed output, failed or denied case, final verification, and rollback. A useful first set is a file restore, a service diagnosis, a least privilege access test, an idempotent shell script, and a failed-unit repair. The Linux+ course links the steps. Redact credentials and host identifiers in any shared submission.
Compare your evidence with each numbered official objective. Mark any task without a lab as a study gap. Use the Linux+ practice test to review recall, then return to the VM for performance tasks. Confirm current logistics with CompTIA before booking.
