Awareness training teaches personnel how to handle routine cyber risks and report concerns. It is separate from work-role qualifications under the DoD 8140 program. Completing an awareness module alone does not grant a professional certification or qualify someone for every cyber workforce role. Check the current DoD 8140 guidance and your Army component’s instructions.

The Army reported on August 6, 2026, that ATIS Learning serves as its official Cyber Awareness Training platform. The DoD Cyber Exchange also hosts the current Cyber Awareness Challenge and explains certificate handling. Course cadence differs by personnel category and local requirement. Verify the current rule in ATIS and with your supervisor before relying on an older annual-training page.

Apply the Local Procedure

Use the training portal and reporting channels provided by your organization. Do not enter Army credentials into a public example or independent lab. A useful awareness exercise presents a synthetic suspicious message with a sender mismatch, urgent request, and unexpected attachment. Record the indicators, avoid opening the attachment, and choose the approved report route. The exact mailbox or ticket path depends on your unit’s current policy.

For removable media, verify classification, approved device status, and handling rules before connecting anything. For lost devices or suspected credential exposure, use the local incident contact promptly and preserve the facts you observed. Do not investigate beyond your authority.

Verify Completion

Save the completion record in the approved system, then confirm whether your supervisor or work-role manager needs separate proof. If you hold a designated cyber workforce role, compare its qualification route, training, and continuing education rules with the current component policy. Treat historical DoD 8570 charts as background, not current universal qualification guidance.

Practice and Pass Check

Use an invented suspicious message. Record three indicators, the approved report route, the information you would preserve, and one action outside your authority. Then create a separate work-role note with the coded role, proficiency level, current matrix source, component confirmation contact, and unresolved requirement.

Pass condition: The awareness record uses the approved reporting route and opens no attachment. The work-role record cites current DoD 8140 sources and does not treat course completion as workforce qualification.
