What These Metrics Mean
- Exploitability covers how reachable the flaw is. Attack Vector, Attack Complexity, Privileges Required, and User Interaction feed it.
- Impact covers what the attacker gains across Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability.
- Scope is the unusual one. When it is Changed, a flaw in one component affects another, which is why the formula treats it separately.
- This is the base score only. Temporal and Environmental metrics are deliberately excluded, so a real risk decision needs more than this number.
